ABOUT US
World Class Athletes competing at a World Class Venue at Grenada’s own World Class Event - after a three-year hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic – the Grenada Invitational returns in spectacular fashion. Having already been established pf the premier track and field meet in the southern Caribbean through its initial three stagings in 2017, 2018 and 2019, the 2024 edition of the Grenada Invitational will be the premier track and field event in the entire Caribbean in 2024
The Grenada Invitational is now a World Athletics (formerly the IAAF) World Continental Tours Gold Meets. This is just one notch down from Diamond league status.
The newly adorned Gold status is due in part to the success of our superstar athletes. In order to attain Gold status a Meet has to be able to attract at least 3 of the top fifty track and field athletes in the world as per World Athletics rankings. Two of the top fifty track and field athletes in the World Rankings are Grenadian. Anderson Peters number one in Javelin and number 12 overall and Kirani James number 2 in the 400m and number 17 overall.
Additionally, the Grenada Invitational and Grenada has been able to deliver in all the key areas – accommodation, facilities, security – to facilitate the ascension to Gold status.
The Grenada Invitational will take place at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium in April, 2024.
This World Continental Tours Gold Meet, as per the broadcast partnership between World Athletics and Grenada Invitational, will be broadcast live to over 145 countries worldwide.
